SUPER HEAT TEST

The superheat test measures the temperature increase of a vapor above its boiling point at a given pressure, typically used in HVAC and refrigeration systems to assess system efficiency and ensure proper refrigerant levels. By testing the superheat, technicians can determine if a system is correctly charged and if components like the compressor are operating efficiently.

In HVAC systems, a proper superheat level indicates that the evaporator coil is fully absorbing heat, preventing liquid refrigerant from reaching the compressor, which could cause damage. The superheat test thus helps optimize cooling performance, reduce energy consumption, and extend the lifespan of equipment.
